You can order this Iaito from us with a Blade length from 2.20 - 2.45 Shaku buy. In this area, the sizes 2.2, 2.25, 2.3, 2.35, 2.4 and 2.45 Shaku are available in individual steps. When purchasing, it makes sense to ensure that the blade length is in line with your own body proportions. Under the "Add to basket" button you will find a table with the sizes that, in our experience, fit our Iaito.
With a length of 2.45 Shaku, the weight is only approx. 780g. This is made possible by the lightweight blade made of a zinc-aluminium alloy. This material is the standard for blunt training swords in Japan and also complies with the local weapons laws.
The blunt blades allow comparatively safe training. This is important for the martial art of Iaido. However, Iaito is also used for training in numerous other martial arts, such as Koryu or the original Kendo. Iai was and is also practised with the appropriate swords in these martial arts.
The handle (Tsuka) has a handle length of 25.8cm. It has a slimming curve, which means that the Iaito fits well in the hand for all hand sizes. The winding is made of Japanese black cotton tsuka. The inlays on the handle are genuine seeds.
Menuki as well as Fuchi and Kashira show bamboo motifs. The stitch plate (Tsuba) shows the Sayagata pattern. An eternally continuous concatenation of nested lines. A good analogy to the eternal learning process in training.
