Information about the blacksmith:
Name: Magoroku Kanemoto
Real name: Kaneko Tatsuichiro
The master was born in Taishō 13 (1924) and lived in Inaguchi, Seki, Gifu Prefecture. He was a direct descendant of the Kaneko Magoroku family, which belonged to the Tokuin school and became famous through Seki no Magoroku. In 1937 he became a pupil of Watanabe Kanenaga. In 1944 he took over the name Kanemoto in the 27th generation.
In 1980, he was honoured by the mayor of Seki City for his services to the industry. In 1997, it was named an "Important Intangible Cultural Property of Gifu Prefecture". An honour that is bestowed on only a few blacksmiths.
He signed his works "27th generation Kanemoto" and "27th generation Magoroku". He specialised in works in the style of Shizu Kaneuji and Magoroku Kanemoto, for which he received great recognition and won many prizes.
He died on 24 January 2008 at the age of 83.

This blade is a typical work of the master with the well-known Sanbonsugi-Hamon pattern by Magoroku Kanemoto.
