Katana restoration

For most Katana owners, sooner or later the moment comes when they need to restore their own sword.

It makes a big difference whether the sword is an Iaito, a modern replica or a genuine Japanese sword. However, we offer the right service for all needs.

Iaito Restoration

There are typical wearing parts on the Iaito, such as the saya. This is stressed during regular training and wears out.

Economically, it usually makes sense to completely replace the saya instead of repairing it.

We offer spare parts for Iaito from our range. If you have purchased your Iaito from someone else, we can usually also supply the appropriate spare parts if it comes from Japan.

In addition to the saya, we also offer interchangeable elements such as menuki, tsuka ito, fuchigashira and much more...

Please take Contact us us if you have any questions.

Modern Katana restoration

Modern swords that were produced outside Japan are often used to carry out cutting exercises. This protects the originals from Japan and if the sword is damaged, it is comparatively cheap to repair.

Use causes certain damage to the sword. These are usually scratched blades or damaged handles.

It usually makes no sense to renew the blade polish on such swords, as this would often be just as expensive as a completely new sword.

However, there are many tricks to make the blade a little prettier again with simple means.

In addition, we are regularly contacted by customers who have purchased modern Katana from abroad and are not satisfied with individual details on the sword. In this case, a repair can be cheaper than a cancellation with a foreign supplier.

However, we can also restore such modern Katana comparatively cheaply. Please Contact us us if you have an enquiry in this area. There are simple solutions for most problems.

Nihonto Restoration

The restoration of original swords from Japan (Nihonto) is important work that requires a high level of craftsmanship if the result is to be good.

In contrast to the two previously mentioned categories, it is never advisable to do it yourself!

There are specialists for the processing of such swords. Both for antique swords from Japan and for samurai swords made by contemporary swordsmiths in Japan.

The most common request is for a completely new polish when an antique sword has been purchased or for a polish overhaul on newer swords that have been used for cutting practice.

However, all other enquiries, such as renewal of the mount (Koshirae), can also be covered by our service. Please contact Contact us contact us if you require the restoration of a Nihonto.

Conclusion

We are primarily a supplier for the sale of swords, but we would also like to offer you this service.

Depending on the enquiry, we may therefore refer you to a specialist tradesman after you have contacted us.

We do not earn anything from such transfers, we see this as a service for the Japanese sword scene in Germany. There are appropriate contacts in Europe and Japan for all matters, so please do not hesitate to contact us.

If you are not sure in which of the three categories mentioned above your sword should be categorised, we will be happy to help you.
