What is the right length for my Iaito?<\/h3>\n

Both a centreboard that is too short and one that is too long will hinder or prevent correct movements. We therefore recommend the following sword lengths as the maximum length.<\/p>\n

Experience has shown that a size smaller is optimal for most people, as the table is designed for more advanced exercisers, for whom the pulling movement is slightly different than for less advanced users.<\/p>\n

There is an extra column in the table for women. As the belt is traditionally worn higher on women than on men, it makes sense to use a different sword length.<\/p>\n

The recommended measurement corresponds to the Japanese way of measuring. This means nagasa from munemachi (edge of the blade on the habaki) to the end of the tip.<\/p>\n

In addition to our recommendation, there are also differences in the individual styles. That's why we always recommend asking your local sensei.
