Black saya (sword sheath) for a samurai sword (katana, iaito, ...).
This saya has a special design, more precisely 3 designs in one:
Sendan:
The area around Kurigata (pommel on the scabbard) to Koiguchi (opening of the scabbard) is developed with rattan before lacquering. This design is known as sendan.
Inro:
This saya has symmetrical indentations further along. These are known as inro.
Kuroro:
After the above-mentioned treatment, the scabbard is lacquered in high-gloss black. The Japanese name for this lacquer finish is Kuroro.
We can provide you with this saya customised to fit your sword for a blade length of 2.2 to 2.7 shaku.
Visually, it is one of the most appealing and elegant designs you can buy for a sword.
