Katana Mei (signature):
越前住伯耆守藤原汎隆 (Fujiwara Hōki-no-Kami Hirotaka aus Echizen)
万治元年八月日 (One day in August Manji 1 (1658))

Information about the blacksmith:
Hirotaka was a respected blacksmith of the Echizen Shimosaka school. He worked in the middle of the 17th century in the Edo period and was based in the Echizen region. He is considered a pupil of the equally famous blacksmith Domoto Kanetane.

Information about the blade:
Nagasa (blade length): 68.8 cm
Sori (blade curvature): 1.2 cm
Motohaba: 30.9 mm
Motokasane: 6.7 mm
Sakihaba: 20.5 mm
Sakikasane: 5.0 mm

The blade was forged in 1658. It is a typical example of a Kanbun Shinto katana.
With a slight curve and a clear difference in blade width at the base of the handle and the tip.
The jigane is fine, the hamon with an irregular notary pattern shows never.

The blade is decorated with horimono (engraving) on both sides. The god Fudo Myo-o and Bonji are engraved on one side. On the other side is the image of a dragon.
Both engravings are masterfully executed and further enhance the blade's appearance.

The mount also dates from the Edo period and is elegant and stylish.

The scope of delivery also includes the NBTHK certificate, which confirms the authenticity and origin of the blade.

This sword is currently still in Japan. We take over the complete handling (all associated costs are already included in the offered price).
