SUKESADA (祐定), 1st gen. Hikobei, Meiō (明応, 1492-1501), Bizen – “Bizen no Kuni-jū Osafune Hikobei no Jō Sukesada” (備前国住長船彦兵衛尉祐定), “Bizen no Kuni-jū Osafune Hikobei no Jō Sukesada saku” (備前国住長船 彦兵衛尉祐定作), “Bishū Osafune Sukesada” (備州長船祐定), son of the Chōroku-era (長禄, 1457-1460) Sukesada, first name Hikobei (彦兵衛), together with his son Yosōzaemon Sukesada (与三左衛門祐定) he is considered as the best of all Sukesada smiths, we know blades from the Meiō to the Eishō era (永正, 1504-1521), this concerns first and firemost uchigatana with a nagasa of around 66.6 cm, a wide mihaba, and a somewhat thicker kasane, but also tantō with a nagasa of about 21 to 24 cm, a normal mihaba, a thick kasane, and a relative long nakago are extant, the jigane is a dense ko-itame with utsuri and ji-nie, but utsuri must not necessarily be present, the hamon is a koshi-no-hiraita gunome-chōji in nioi-deki, there are also blades with horimono extant, ō-wazamono, saijō-saku
